Guard dogs

This restaurant is named after the old practice of letting guard dogs roam the walled city of Saint Malo once the sun went down. Apparently these dogs were pretty fierce and the fear of facing one in the dark streets was enough to keep people out of mischief. I'm not sure it's the best name for a hotel- restaurant, but it's historic! Photo taken in April 2003. For more signs, visit Signs, Signs.

  4. Maybe some of the towns around Toronto need walls and we could get some dogs to cut down crime. :))

  9. Who needs a police force with these guys roaming the streets?!
I hope the waiters have a better disposition.

  10. i'd prefer soldiers or police roaming the streets at night than fierce guard dogs.:p

  11. Letting the dogs loose would certainly deter after dark burglars from robbing the area. I do not think i would want to stay there overnight. genie

  12. Just that image might scare me away from the restaurant. (I'm all for remembering history but....takes away my appetite (not necessarily a bad thing ;>)
